There is a pivotal scene in American Hustle in which Irving, a toupee-wearing con artist, confesses to his mistress Sydney that his loan business is a scam—and then proposes she join him in the illegal scheme. Disgusted by his invitation, Sydney walks immediately out of his office and slams the door, its frosted glass window rattling in the frame. And then, to Irving’s utter confusion, Sydney struts back into the room, looking the same but somehow fundamentally changed, and, using a pitiably false British accent, reintroduces herself as his new partner in crime: “Would you like to meet Lady Edith Greensly?” She offers her hand, demanding he kiss it. “I have royal banking connections in London. I’d love to help you with your loan, but of course I have to be vah-ry se-lec-teeve.” And just like that, one character has morphed into another. Irving is played to drab perfection by Christian Bale, but it’s Amy Adams’s performance as Sydney—and Sydney’s performance as Lady Edith—that leaves us dazzled. (Read more)

The  Entertainment Weekly brings the first official look of Amy Adams as Camille Preaker in Sharp Objects.

Camille and her mother, Adora — the women at the center of Gillian Flynn’s 2006 debut novel, Sharp Objects — have a relationship so toxic they should be reported to poison control.

In the eight-episode adaptation developed by Marti Noxon (UnREAL) and directed by Jean-Marc Vallée (Big Little Lies, Wild), their venomous connection only grows more potent when Camille (Amy Adams), a crime reporter fresh out of a psych hospital for her years of self-harm, returns to her hometown of Wind Gap, Mo., to investigate the murders of two little girls. The assignment lands her back in her childhood home under the critical eye of picture-perfect small-town socialite Adora (Patricia Clarkson), which forces Camille to confront personal demons, including spoiled half sister Amma, played by Eliza Scanlen.

Like Flynn’s other novels, Dark Places and Gone Girl — which have both been adapted into films — Sharp Objects has no shortage of disturbing twists, but the author says this book most needed the extra TV screen time. “I was really nervous it would just turn into a horror movie and lose a lot of the nuance,” she explains. “The mystery is as much about who Camille is and what happened in this town as it is about the murders.”

Diving into the unsettling world of Wind Gap hasn’t been easy on the actors, either. “I think it’s been a burden for [Amy] to carry that character,” Noxon admits. The same goes for Clarkson, who calls Adora “the beauty and the beast,” before adding, “It’s a very brutal part and one that can take a toll on you.” Like mother, like daughter — off camera, at least.

Sharp Objects debuts on HBO summer 2018.

Amy Adams  attended the 31st American Cinematheque ceremony at the Beverly Hilton in California on November 11, 2017. She  was honoured by the American Cinematheque for her entire carrer. Michael Shannon (her partner in Man of Steel and Nocturnal Animals) who presented the award.

Various stars were present to honor Amy, they also praised the actress:

,“You’re suppose to roast at these events. I don’t know how to do that, but you don’t roast angels.” –  DanisVilleneuve said during his speech about the actress

Chris Messina called Amy a “Babe Ruth” of actors “able to see something that no one else could see just like the ballplayer when he stepped up to the plate.” He regaled the crowd with an experience over the summer when they were shooting a scene for Sharp Objects in a 100-degree dinner in the valley. The steamy atmosphere was ideal for the fight scene they had to perform. However, after a few takes, Adams went to the monitor, studied her performance, and “pointed at the monitor. She wanted to do another take. It reminded me of when Babe Ruth would point to the bleachers,” said Messina. Adams called “MessyMessinaFamily. Working with you brought out the most genuine part of my spirit.

Jake Gyllenhaal also delivered heartfelt praises , that her canon “is a mind-bending study in versatility” with roles such as a “bio-hazard single mother, a bad ass bar maid, a neurotic blogger, a starlet and a nun.

People sometimes presume that when someone is at the top of their game, that they’re a total nightmare. Amy is the opposite, instead she’s a wonderful person,” said Gyllenhaal, “In short, we’re honoring a unicorn, a virtuoso talent with serious chops.”

Justin Timberlake who worked with Amy in Trouble With the Curve, she is a “karaoke monster” who “bullied me into singing ‘A Whole New World’ from Aladdin” while they were shooting the film in Atlanta, GA. “Quite frankly, I will sing with you anytime. But next time, I’m choosing the god damn song. I have a history with Disney, there’s a whole PTSD,” joked Justin. Adams said that Timberlake equally is also a karaoke beast. Recalling their experience, Amy said “There may have been a dance. The tequila part (of the story) was true.

Natalie Portman never worked with Amy, but is still waiting for “the perfect buddy comedy” to come along for them. Portman said that she “traveled with Amy on the campaign trail” meaning the awards season track. “During these interviews that get repetitive, Amy said something that it was difficult to be an actress because you have to have a thick skin because of all things people say about you, but you have to have a thin skin and be vulnerable when you’re working. She maintains that incredible vulnerability when I see her,” said the Black Swan Oscar winner.

Tom Hanks, who worked with Adams on Catch Me If You Can and Charlie Wilson’s War, said that when Amy first appeared as Brenda Strong in Spielberg’s caper, “The local 50 guys asked who is that woman playing Brenda Strong? Where did she come from? What food did they feed her as a child to become Brenda Strong? She’s a vision. She’s a plane so stellar that telescopes are needed.Hanks recounted Adams’ path from dinner theater, to landing her first film role in 1999’s Drop Dead Gorgeous which encouraged the actress to move to Los Angeles to pursue a professional acting career.

Amy in her speech remembered how she never wanted to mess up a line in front of TomHanks because he was a role model. During production on Charlie Wilson’s War, the sound production assistant had to move Adams’ mic, “because my heart was pounding so loud” said the actress; she was that nervous about potentially flubbing up in front of Hanks.

KristenStewart and Amy shared a small scene in a country house in On the Road, it was akin to a little-big sister relationship for the Twilight actress. But for Adams, “I was lactating through my dress. She was cool, just smoking and I’m trying to be cool with the young girls while I’m lactating” joked the actress.

Amy looked stunning in a custom Andrew Gn one-sleeve gown with 3D floral appliqué. She was accompanied by husband Darren Le Gallo and her family.
